100 Year Anniversay!

CELEBRATIONS

1922 – 2022… This year marks our centenary year! Come and join us celebrate as we prepare to mark this momentous occasion at our annual Summer Showcase. This event is incredibly special as the dance school has been passed through generations throughout the course of the century. The family-run foundations set in stone years ago haven’t ceased to continue and the traditions still run strong. Sonia, Juliet (sisters), Lucy & Emma-Jane (sisters) are carrying on the legacy by co-directing the school to great feats. During their time as Principals they have seen BHW Dance win numerous National Titles; claiming First Place at the NCGD Finals 3 times, gaining recognition for various shields at competitions across the country (Ruby Ginner, Mabel Ryan) and have qualified solos, duets, trios and group dances for renowned competitions. There have been multiple individual successes, as many pupils reach goals and achievements during their training at BHW Dance, which we pride ourselves for; supporting and encouraging every person who enters our community. Although our statistics speak for themselves, nothing is as important as the full experience each and every one of our students has, as part of our school. We always try to maintain contact with past pupils and many return to help at our Summer Shows, Easter Courses, Competitions and Events – it’s so special and is a testimony to the community we aim to create for BHW Dance.

Our upcoming Summer Showcase will be one to remember; consisting of our Classical Ballet pieces, choreographed by Lucy Pohl, Emma-Jane Padfield, Eloise Hardy & Juliet Locks. The Classical Greek repertoire is always beautiful and captivates the audience from start to finish. Our Musical Theatre segment of the show will have sections choreographed by professional dancer, Emily Galvin – we are very fortunate to have such talent which will be passed through to the pupils (both Junior & Senior). BHW Dance Alumni, Eloise Hardy will also teach her own original pieces for this special performance. Both teachers are budding leaders within the industry and represent everything we stand for at BHW Dance; passionate, positive, personable & proficient. We are so proud to present this work as well as the Ballet, Greek, Tap & Jazz at the upcoming performances on 3rd July 2022 at The Harlow Playhouse!

As we prepare our pupils to shine on stage this Summer Season, having been deprived of our usual performance experience these past few years, the build up to this production is much anticipated. Last year (2021) was the debut and original creation of  ‘Performance in the Park’, as a ‘Covid Adapted’ version of the Annual Showcase. Although it was a great success and fulfilled many of our dancer’s desire to perform, we cannot deny our excitement for this year’s complete experience. Stay tuned for the release of the ‘Junior Ballet’, ‘Senior Ballet’ & ‘Musical Theatre Finale’!… it will be announced prior to our students returning at the start of Term. We cannot wait to share this wonderful time again with our past & present pupils! In the meantime, our pupils will be preparing with hard work, time & dedication in the studio before the curtains open on 3rd July!
